Thai Orchid is now the oldest Thai Restaurant in Christchurch. Robert Ling, land owner and Architect of Thai Orchid originally designed the building to be Thai Restaurant in 1988. Unfortunately the “to-be Restaurateurs pulled out 3 months before completion of the building. – A tricky predicament when there were so few Thai people living in Christchurch at the time.
